We are looking for photos that suggest lunch or dinner. Again. Anything that makes you think of these afternoon and/or evening meals works.
Lunch for us is midday or thereabouts.
Dinner was our evening meal when we were working, but dinner nowadays refers to Maya’s bowl of food, as we have a light snack in the evenings now.
I do a lot with chicken as it’s something Hubby can eat with no problems:
Chicken salad, roast chicken (well steamed actually, cooked in water in a frying pan as it keeps it moist), chicken curry, ginger and pineapple chicken, chicken and tomato salad, chicken and veg, chicken and beetroot salad, chicken and jacket potato.

About pensitivity101
I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes!
In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too.
On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts.
From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives.
We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
Wow! Those meals look mighty tasty!! We had baked chicken, roasted Brussel sprouts with a maple bacon glaze and canned beets (beetroot) on Sunday. It was very good! I prefer to peel and roast the beetroot instead of the canned ones but they were very discounted and Sparky wanted them ($0.25/15 oz. can)!
You are getting such good bargains Val. Hubby’s choices are limited, and I can do a lot with chicken, plus it is one of the cheaper meats available here.
Chicken is good but with the bird flu we are losing chickens and egg production so it’s getting more expensive… We got some chicken thighs and legs for $0.99/pound mostly because the consumers in the US prefer the white meat! I personally prefer dark meat so that’s to our advantage!
We prefer the white meat and I will make one breast do a meal for both if us. I made a spaghetti bolognese the other day and had enough of the sauce mix to go with jacket potatoes the following day.
That’s the name of the game! I’ve made 6 meals out of my corned beef and cabbage so far. Saturday will be the last 2 meals – fried cabbage and hashed browns!
Bubble and squeak to us. Love it. Nothing gets wasted.
Zero waste is my goal! I haven’t had to throw out leftovers or had spoilage for a long long time! With 2 sons and Sparky it was hard to even have leftovers!!
They all look very nice. Meat is so dear in the UK isn’t it? Even when I was a teenager visiting the UK for the first time I noticed that people ate a lot less meat than we do.
I had the shock of my life a little while ago looking for some beef to go in our stew. I usually do all veg, but we fancied a ‘kick’. They wanted Β£7.50 for a small tray of sliced raw meat so I left it there and went elsewhere. I ended up paying Β£4 for 400g of cubed beef, but divided it into 4 portions and froze three. We don ‘t eat a lot of meat, and the last time I asked for 100g of braising steak, the butcher thought it was for the dog!
Chicken is still pretty reasonable and I can get three chicken breasts for about Β£3.50. Each one is enough for the two of us, so again I freeze the others. Turkey, lamb and steak is well beyond my budget, and Hubby can’t eat pork.
Even here meat is getting more expensive. When I was a child a leg of lamb on Sunday was withing our budget and lasted for a few meals. Now we rarely buy it. If I do I get a boneless roast as I feel it is better value for money. We don’t give our dogs bones and I don’t make soup from scratch as a rule. Chicken used to be a bit of a luxury but now it is a go to food for us and for the dogs. Healthier for us than sausages and mince although you can do a lot with mince.
Lamb was one of the cheaper cuts of meat when I was a child. That with beef or pork was rotated for the Sunday roast. By the time I was 10, it was always chicken unless other brother was coming to visit, when Mum would do pork, as it was his favourite.
I do a lot with mince and buy the low fat of 5%. That’s also what Maya has in her dinner (25g raw in with her dried food which has done wonders for her coat).
Nice meals
Chicken was easy to prepare and versatile. Luckily Hubby can still enjoy my curries or ginger and pineapple efforts.
Thatβs great. And the fact that there are both of you who can decide what to have. Here is a constant struggle when something thatβs cooked is like by one person and disliked by others.
I can buy ready meals to heat from frozen of he fancies something different to me or vice versa.
Thatβs convenient. We are living with my daughter and grandson and everyone has different preferences. You can imagine how difficult it is to plan a menu.
Oh, I can indeed.

Chicken is so versatile! X
Very !
Yummy looking photos. I eat a lot more chicken these days than I used to. I do like all the different ways you can turn it into a meal. You have some great suggestions here.
Thanks. It was easy and filling, plus low in syns for Slimming World.
