A quiet night in

The image below is from Aleksandar Nakic@Getty Images.
For the visually challenged writer, the photo shows a young woman lying on her stomach and facing the foot of her bed. She’s eating something with chopsticks and appears to be engrossed in watching something on television.

Here is my take for Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge today

He’d cancelled again but she was actually relieved as she was going to kick him into touch anyway.

This evening she was going to have a girly night in, long hot soak in the tub with lashings of bubbles and scented candles, relaxing music, a good book, then pluck the eyebrows, wax her legs and lounge around in PJs watching her favourite video with a take out.

Sprawled on her bed, she raised the chopsticks towards her mouth and stopped.
The noodles dropped onto the plate which then fell on the floor as she scrambled off the bed to look closer at the screen.
She could not believe what she was seeing.
This was HER bedroom, and that was HER boyfriend on HER bed, but it certainly wasn’t her under the sheets, but the blonde bimbo from upstairs.
The lying scumbag! Little things began to fall into place and she was so glad she’d held off on him moving in. Well, the BB could have him.

Having lost her appetite, she threw her dinner in the bin and cleared up the mess.
It wasn’t what was on the screen that had upset her, but the fact that they’d taped over her copy of Titanic!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Oh no, not taped over “Titanic”! 🤣

  2. It must be a lot of work being a girl, having to pluck your eyebrows, and wax your legs. How could he even think of taping over Titanic!

I’ve never seen Titanic, but I can imagine it would be upsetting to a fan!

    • When we lived in Poole, our neighbour’s daughter saw Titanic every weekend at the cinema and demanded her mother get the video when it came out. We had the special edition which was better than the original release.

That she gave him a key (obviously) was a mistake. Glad she’s going to correct it – she definitely dodged a bullet!!
