It was lovely and sunny at 7.30, then we had dark skies at 7.40 followed by heavy rain before 8. Aren’t there just days you wish you could stay in bed?
Not so today as I was taking our friend to the surgery for a minor operation on her foot.
We arrived in plenty of time and I said that if she couldn’t walk afterwards to call me and I’d come to her with a wheelchair.
The treatment room was upstairs and she had a plastic shoe guard over her bandaged foot. Typically, the lift was out of order but she said she could manage the stairs. I told her no way and spoke to two staff chatting and asked if we could use the ‘other lift’ which is for staff and behind secured doors. There was no problem and our friend managed to get to the car with little difficulty.
She had some shopping to do as did I so I did that for her and the latest thing missing from the shelves now other than eggs (not ONE in the supermarket) is McVities Digestive Biscuits. You can get either of the chocolate varieties, but plain?
That would be a no.
A different supermarket and I was able to get her a small 225g pack for Β£1.19. What a rip off, but it is one of the few things where she is brand loyal so something I will be on the lookout for when I shop.
She has to go to her own surgery on Wednesday for the dressing to be changed and we are free to take her so that works out very well.
You are such kind neighbours π
We look out for our friends, especially as they live on their own.
We try to too π
Nice β€
It’s wonderful to see how you took care of your friend during her minor operation on her foot. It’s heartwarming to know that there are still people out there who are willing to go the extra mile to help others. Your kind gestures and willingness to help are what make this world a better place. Even though the weather wasn’t on your side, you still managed to make sure your friend got the care she needed. It’s also funny how you mentioned the missing item on the supermarket shelves, McVities Digestive Biscuits, and how you managed to find it for your friend. Your attentiveness and consideration for your friend’s preferences are admirable. It’s these small acts of kindness that can make a big difference in someone’s day. Keep up the good work! ππππ
Thank you. We try to look after our friends
I’ve got a great recipe for digestives if you want it
Please!
I remember my mum saying to me when I used to get her shopping; “Don’t forget the biscuits….the good biscuits.” Yes, that Netflix TV advert comes to mind π
The price of biscuits is going up out of all proportion, even the shop brands.
