The biggest job left on the snag list was done today, and that was the laying of the vinyl flooring.
We had decided to get a professional fitter in to do the job, and for forty quid, we got a twofer.
When we’d chosen the flooring, we were told the fitter would come in the morning but they couldn’t give us a time. This was OK as it meant he would also be bringing the flooring so we didn’t have to worry about storing it somewhere.
The van pulled up outside at 9.40 with two lads on board and as is the norm here, the first thing after good morning is ‘Tea or coffee’.
With a response of coffee white with two twice, I set to with the kettle and they set to checking out the job…….. with Maya’s help of course and her pawtographs were now all over the lining paper we’d put down over the weekend.
The guys said there was no problem laying the vinyl on top of the paper, so they tidied up the edges and began to work.
The job took just over an hour, and they knew what they were doing. The end result is great, because it brings together the original wall tiles, those we’ve just put up and also the grey paint on the walls.
Not much left to do now:
Plinths, boxing in pipes, and putting the cupboard in place.
Well done, it looks amazing
Almost finished now and we shall be glad to have the house tidy again!
Looks great! Another job off the list! You are neighborly! I’ve never offered a hot drink first think in the morning to workers. Maybe a cold water on a hot day later on but I usually expect they had their caffeine hit on the ride over.
We’ve always done it and when we were in the cottage, our nosy neighbour could not believe we offered the farmer a cup of tea and talked to him as well as he emptied our cesspit! It paid off as I could give him a call and he’d come in a couple of days. Other people had to wait over a week!
Kindness is always rewarded. Sometimes in a way you can’t see and sometimes you can.
π
you’re almost there π looks good
Thanks!!
Must be a relief. Itβs looking great
Almost done and only one largish thing to do on the snag list now and that’s putting the cupboard in place.

Sometimes you need professionals. We needed them to fit the windows, add the gutters. Fix other windows. Remove a moldy door and replace it with a window. Patch the driveway. We even got help clearing the gutters (no, we do NOT climb up on ladders) and clearing the property before winter. The reality is we can’t do it ourselves and my son works full time, so we hire people, almost all local. And they do a GREAT job. I love that shower cabinet!
Hubby is a good all rounder, but won’t touch gas. General DIY we have managed to do most of that ourselves and got good at kitchens (having done 4) and this is our second bathroom revamp. Hubby has put doors, patio doors and windows in, but when it comes to roofing or central heating installation, we call in the pros. He can change a radiator though, and he did put a rad in the boat which was much better than the silly kick heater that did nothing to warm the sitting area. It meant we lost a bunk, but we turned the lounge into an L shape which actually gave us more room when we had visitors aboard.
Nice! I like it.
Thank you! It was a good choice as it’s brought all the colours together.
It is gorgeous!
Thank you! Nearly done now.
Ooo. Exciting. Soon be finished now.
We can see a bigger light at the end of the tunnel!
Looks great so far!
Thanks Robert. Hubby has worked really hard and done a good job.
He has my respect. I have zero DIY skills.
He’s a good all rounder as they say. He’s the
do-er and I’m the gofer, though today he let me loose with the electric drill!
Yikes!
You should see me with a sledgehammer.
That’s a top-notch bathroom you’ve got there.
He’s done a brilliant job.
Oh! The bathroom looks lovely.
Getting there!!!!
Looking good π
