Share Your World 6th March

Welcome to Share your World.
There are two ways in which you can participate:
Leave your answers to this week’s questions in the comments box below or create your own post.

To make it easy for others to check out your post, title your blog post “Share Your World” and link it to this one.

Ping-backs are activated, but don’t always work properly. To play safe, leave a link in a comment, just to be sure or if you prefer, leave just the link if you don’t have anything else to chat about.
Instructions on how ping-backs work are found by clicking here. Thanks!

Melanie always included an optional gratitude section at the end and I see no reason to change that.
Here are this week’s questions:

  1.  Does your spouse/partner (or do you) help with the household chores?
  2.  What is  your least favourite chore?

3.  As a kid, did you have to do chores to earn your pocket money/allowance?

4.  Did you save any of your pocket money or spend it all?

Gratitude:
Sometimes we take so much for granted

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I wasn’t paid for chores – we just had to do them… Personally I hate to dust and Sparky is supposed to handle that (but he puts it off until I can’t stand it any longer and do it myself! I saved nearly every penny I earned – and was lucky to be able to pay for most of my college in addition to some scholarships and a couple little loans. I was able to be debt free after 3 years!! It really was all due to savings (and the interest earned)!

    • Hi Val. Thanks for joining in. I’ve always been a saver and would work on the rule of thirds………. a third to Mum for my keep, a third to savings, and the rest was ‘mad money’.
I encouraged the boys to earn their pocket money, and extra was up for grabs for washing the car. £2 a wash, £4 for a wash and hoover inside and £5 if they polished it inside too. One lad was saving for his football boots and did the full set, even the steering wheel which shot out of my hands as it was so shiny!

What is your least favourite chore? – Cleaning the bathroom.
As a kid, did you have to do chores to earn your pocket money/allowance? – Yes
Did you save any of your pocket money or spend it all? – I did spend it all. I used to go into town most Saturdays with my brother and liked going into ‘Woolworths’ or ‘Knees’ toy sections.

Does my wife help with the household chores? Yeah, I guess she does. I was just out pruning a tree this evening and she was at the bottom (I was up the tree) pointing out the branches I’d missed.
What is my least favourite chore? Oh, that’s just too long a list. My favourites are those I can watch movies whilst doing. Like washing the pots.
As a kid, did I have to do chores to earn my pocket money? No, not really. I guess I’d have gotten pocket money anyway, but I did chores all the same. If I hadn’t then I’d have felt … ungrateful or something.
Did you save any of your pocket money or spend it all? I spent most of it on sweets but I did save some in a bank account that I still have to this day. Admittedly there’s a huge gap between what I had then and what I have now. And I spend a little less on sweets now (but not much less). 😀
