Monday Peeve: 30th January

Paula is behind the Monday Peeve idea, though it is rare I participate to be honest.
My peeve is plastic packaging.
Not the stuff you get over chicken pieces or veg, but the recycled material that you can no longer recycle at home and have to take to the supermarket…………. from one packet of biscuits?  Second word is ‘off’ or ‘that’ depending on your preference.

It’s not just that, but the little tab ‘tear here’ NEVER works, and the damn stuff doesn’t tear anyway! It took five attempts……….. yes five!………. with my trusty new knife which has not yet migrated to Hubby’s tool box, to finally get the pack contents to fall into the waiting container.
Sigh. All for the sake of a custard cream.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I do agree as I opened a package of napkins yesterday. It took forever and even scissors couldn’t penetrate the flimsy packaging. Then came the food I ordered and a tight pop up cover w small tab I couldn’t work. I detest plastic and if something comes in a cardboard container those perforated strips never work🙄

And the amount. It seems there’s layer upon layer now

I agree – tear here almost never works! 🙂

  5. It is annoying. Everything wrapped in plastic seems harder to open now.

Yes, some of that plastic packaging can be a pain to open. I’m starving by the time I’ve finished!
