Well, Wednesday has started like any other Wednesday with reading the meters. Gas and electricity are both up, the former because it’s been so damn cold this past week and the electric because we have been hoovering two or three times a day. It was nice to pull back the curtains this morning and not see a white lawn.
Hubby’s mortar has gone off OK, but that was not the end of the matter as he has had to use some more to keep the wood in place. Everything is level now to put down the new boards, but we can’t do that until the mortar is dry. The dehumidifier is going in there later to help things along as putting the boards back now could lead to damp and that is something we don’t want.
We have progressed in opening the boxes for the shower tray installation and are very impressed. There are 8 adjustable feet, so they could have been tweaked accordingly but our problem was the floor beneath the boards being uneven. The instructions seem quite straightforward and as we opted for the design that is on a plinth, we will have access to the plumbing once everything is up and running.
There’s not much else Hubby can do today and tomorrow will see him out of commission anyway, so hopefully on Friday we can start putting things together. He’s doing a great job, though it’s taking a toll.
We’ve caught up with all the washing today and he’s just gone up to the launderette to get it dry.
Our neighbour has offered us the use of her bathroom shower tonight, so we are jumping at the chance otherwise we may have been using this!
With not being able to do much else until Friday, make sure you rest for a bit respite, so you have fresh energy for then.
It’s nice if your neighbour to offer use of shower.
Exactly what we are doing Liz. It will be good for Hubby to rest as he has been pushing himself so hard. We have no appointments now until February 7th and then something practically every day for the following fortnight. I am so looking forward to my shower and washing my hair!
Yes, it will be good for your hubby to rest with what he has been doing.
Enjoy the shower.
Thank you
My boiler wasn’t broken after all. I have a smart meter app which isn’t that smart. The amount of gas I still had left hadn’t been updated for 3 weeks! but the electricity amount was up to date.
Long story short, the boiler is working now.
Good. You can keep warm.
Isn’t it wonderful to have such good neighbors!? I’m glad the floor leveling has been a success. I’m crossing my fingers that the rest will go smoothly!
Here’s hoping Val. Our other friend has had Maya for us today so we are really blessed to know them.
Slow but steady, you’re doing really well and a day off might be good for all
The mortar is drying out nicely and I think it has done Hubby good to have a rest.
