Rory’s Morning Dawdler #8

Rory is our host and these are his questions:
What is the best way to cook an egg, and what is your favourite egg dish?

What makes for a good listener, and are you one, or do you only hear people as noise?

How well can you control your emotions, and is it hard to keep them in check with moments and times when you feel passionate or angry with others or situations?

Is it necessary for you to be remembered by others for your contribution to life?

My answers:

What is the best way to cook an egg, and what is your favourite egg dish?
I like my eggs poached, boiled or fried. The easiest way for me to cook an egg other thanย  put it in a cake is to fry it as that guarantees success. I like my poached and boiled eggs runny in the middle, but never seem to quite perfect it! However, if I’m boiling eggs for sandwiches, the harder the better!

What makes for a good listener, and are you one, or do you only hear people as noise?
I’ve been told I’m a good listener and people always seem to be able to talk to me.
I think the secret is to say nothing until they have finished what they were saying and then ask how you can help.

How well can you control your emotions, and is it hard to keep them in check with moments and times when you feel passionate or angry with others or situations?
For many years I kept my emotions in check. I had many disappointments and so I chose to not display how I felt. I still do to some extent, but if I feel angry or passionate about something, I let it out. Holding everything in did me no favours in the end.

Is it necessary for you to be remembered by others for your contribution to life?
That depends on whether you’re talking about friends or family. Our friends say I have touched a lot of people one way or another throughout my life, so it would be nice to think that I may be remembered with fondness.
As for family, I have no children and already the nieces and nephews spanning several generations don’t know me. My surviving aunts and uncles are in their 80s and 90s, so when they’re gone, so will any memories of me. As to whether I think it’s necessary to be remembered by others? I’m indifferent, after all I won’t be here to worry about it.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

What is the best way to cook an egg, and what is your favourite egg dish? – I don’t eat very many eggs but if I one…it just has to be ‘flipped’. I just don’t like the look or texture of a runny one!
A fried egg in a full-English breakfast is my favourite dish.

What makes for a good listener, and are you one, or do you only hear people as noise? – I believe I am a good listener. It makes up for the lack of talking on my part.

How well can you control your emotions, and is it hard to keep them in check with moments and times when you feel passionate or angry with others or situations? – I like routine but I don’t panic as much now when things go wrong. I know it’ll be fixed…like my boiler breaking down again this morning.

  6. Good answers Di, and a very interesting last part to four ๐Ÿ™‚ Good thinking for a further question.
