Rory is our host and these are his questions today:
What is the most important meal to your day and why?
How many bananas do you eat a week or do you not?
Do you think self-help books actually help or hinder?
Should we all be more social and not enjoy solitude so much?
What is the most important meal to your day and why?
Breakfast. It sets me up for the day, even if it’s just cereal and yogurt, but that first cup of tea of the day is nectar. If I don’t have breakfast now, I’m snacking all day.
How many bananas do you eat a week or do you not?
I would buy bananas every week and have one a day, but now I don’t buy them. They have gone up in price and the quality has been so abysmal, I threw the last lot away as they rotted from the inside in the bowl.
Do you think self-help books actually help or hinder?
I am not able to say as I have never read one. However, if someone reads one and finds it helps, then great. Care has to be taken over some unscrupulous people who sell ‘self help books’ to the vulnerable which undermines them further so they feel they have to buy more of their books to feel better about themselves.
Should we all be more social and not enjoy solitude so much?
IMO there is a time and a place for both. It all depends on the individual and if one prefers solitude, then their wishes should be respected, unless it is of concern to their friends. Like everything in life, it’s a matter of balance.
You can’t make someone be social, it has to be a chance
I agree, and you also have to feel comfortable, not pressured.
I agree with your last answer Di.
Thank you. Sometimes we need to be alone, but sometimes our friends may be worried if we insist on it.
You’re welcome. Yes, people want to make things alright for their friends, but sometimes being by oneself is the best option
What is the most important meal to your day and why? – I’d say that breakfast is my most important meal. It sets me up for the rest of the day.
How many bananas do you eat a week or do you not? – Yes! I have no bananas. I have no bananas today.
Interesting answers Di. I am with you on the breakfast. These days l mostly have porridge and some yoghurt and a banana sliced and it sets me for a good portion of the day and can see me through to a light snack at lunchtime.
I used to skip breakfast as a teenager, but now I can’t function until I’ve had my morning cuppa and something to eat, which is usually cereal with some fruit
I used to eat eggs for breakfast but l was always hungry by around midday. As l am now working more physically, being hungry at lunch time and not eating wasn’t helpful. Eggs are a great protein source but a quick energy, whilst a good porridge in the morning can see me through a good portion of the day.
I should only have 3 eggs a week apparently, being diabetic. I love fried egg sarnies, or a boiled egg and toast soldiers.
