Today is Tuesday 13th December

Another cold start here on the UK East coast, but it’s definitely warmer than it was yesterday.

Maya gave us a bit of a lie in, then after breakfast and morning chores, we decided to walk up into town as her first walk of the day. She still fights the haltie, but we seem to have reached a compromise and she was co-operating most of the way.
Everywhere is white with hoar frost and it is a proper winter wonderland.  Several properties have put out inflatables which are lying prone on the frozen ground, but there are fairy lights strewn across gables and windows, and the odd Santa scrabbling up a chimney.
We got what we wanted, then came home for a much welcome coffee and slice of fruit loaf. It was too cold to sit outside Greggs, and we saved a bit of money too.

We had our energy bill this morning and are still well in credit towards the approaching colder months. Our supplier estimates our annual usage each time we have a bill so as an exercise, I calculated what we could expect to pay using current figures downloaded from the internet yesterday. As expected, our payments would be almost double what they are now, so my budget for 2023/24 seems to be sound.

No much else on our agenda today. Keep warm and safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Good to hear that Maya redeemed herself a little… The costs of fuel keep going up and incomes are not matching – makes me nervous for the people who are taking advantage of the food pantry….

    • We have a food bank here and the supermarkets all have donation boxes in their foyeurs. There are also charities that provide cooked meals and a Sunday roast for pensioners.

It wasn’t as cold as yesterday down here but the roads and pavements were still icy in patches. I’ve only been down the shop for a paper today, as I had to watch my step!
Yesterday I had my annual eye-test. It’s amazing how many people you bump into at the opticians 🙂

Good news about the bill, every penny counts

Sounds like you had that fuel hit well ‘number-crunched’, Di! Glad Maya is ‘cooperating’.
