Hello and good morning!
We are up early as we are having a field trip in the hope of getting a Dundee Cake for a Christmas gift. We are also planning to drop off the two sacks of dog food to the dog rescue charity.
There is an amber warning in place for cold weather as from tomorrow until Monday so I’d like to get as much done as I can.
Yesterday was a good day and I have practically everything for Christmas now in the cupboards and freezer. I am looking forward to our £10 dash nearer Christmas and we are hoping our friend can have Maya for us so that we don’t have to worry about her and doing everything in relay.
Have a good day everyone! Keep safe and warm.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes!
In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too.
On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts.
From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives.
We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
Good to hear someone is organised and ready for Christmas, as I am not!
I’m not as organised as I used to be, but the thought of going shopping when it’s freezing cold doesn’t appeal!!
No, it doesn’t, Di…
🙂
Have a lovely day Di
You too.
Thanks
Good progress! I’m wrapping gifts today and discovered I’ve misplaced a couple. Next will be a ransacking of all my hiding places….
Been there too! My Mum lost a chocolate santa she bought for hubby and was really upset about it as it was tradition. She found it almost two years later in her keepsake box!
I remember having Dundee cake often for Christmas Day tea. I was never that fond of it to be honest.
My brother got the decs and Christmas tree down from the attic today. Tomorrow will be busy 🙂
Have fun. Dundee Cake is like hen’s teeth.
In the US, a Dundee cake is a fruitcake. We just got ours from the Trappist monastery on the other side of town.
I can get a fruit cake with no problem but the almonds on the top are what make it a Dundee Cake. I have a few other places to try yet, so all may not be lost.
I’ll have to check and see if there are almonds on ours. No telling what the monks do sometimes.
🙂
