Dr Tanya is our host for the Five Things and this week it’s coffee!
Now here’s the thing, I am a tea drinker, and if Dr T had asked about five favourite teas, I would have been stumped. But coffee…………. well!
I am not a fan of strong coffee (tea or chocolate for that matter) but I do like these!
Latte.
My choice of beverage when we’re out is always Latte coffee. Some places make it better than others, but I still prefer it to tea, mainly because it always seems too strong for my palate.
Cappuccino
This used to be my choice until I discovered latte. Maggie liked the froth on the latte coffee, even getting her own (read here) but she could tell the difference and turn her nose up at a cappuccino.
Calypso
Now you’re talking.
This would always be my grand finale after a meal out in a restaurant. Black coffee with Tia Maria and thick whipped cream on the top.
Caribbean
Similar to the above but using Cointreau instead of Tia Maria.
Liqueur
You can use rum, whisky or brandy as well in coffee with whipped cream and brown sugar.
All liqueur coffees are extravagant and you have to drink delicately otherwise you get a white Rudolph nose!
Di I can’t stand the taste of coffee! After all these years it isn’t likely I’ll ever develop a taste for it!
I don’t like coffee flavoured chocolates or ice cream, neither do I like chocolate flavoured ice cream! I cannot start my day without my morning cuppa.
I like an Americano coffee best. I’ve tried a few others but I’d struggle to find four more that I actually like.
I can relate to that……….. three of mine were alcoholic (and I don’t drink as a rule)
I like the sound of the Calypso
It is rather nice…………….
My favourite is Irish coffee 💜💜
I could go with that if Tia Maria or Cointreau weren’t available!
We’ll do a post on tea too.
Tea is my preferred option too since my system cannot manage coffee on a daily basis. But the flavour and aroma of coffee are something else.
I’d agree with you there!
😍
My favorite is Cafe Americano, which is four shots of espresso and hot water. It’s not quite as bitter as regular brewed coffee. Back in my drinking days, I used to like Irish coffee, which was black coffee with sugar, Irish whiskey, and whipped cream. Now, I drink instant and actually really like it.
Once I figured out what Tia Maria was, Calypso sounded really good…
Having a liqueur coffee after a posh meal was always a treat for me.
