The day has dawned misty but mild. I was awakened by a gentle warm tongue on my hand denoting it was time to get up and let Maya out for a wee. It was ten to eight.
She’d got me up earlier and performed when I let her out, then we went back to bed and I asked her to give me another couple of hours. Who would think a dog could judge time?
Saying that though, when we were working, both Barney and Maggie knew when it was time for us to come home and would wait by the door, way before the car would pull up on the drive.
Maya alerts up when she hears the car enter the road, which is quite a distance from our house. She get excited and I nearly always fall over her in her rush to get outside to greet Hubby or the other way round.
Today we are off into town and I hope to have a look around for ideas for Christmas presents. I only have two people to buy for and I’ve decided to do goody bags. Hubby and I will have our ten pound dash later in December.
I was looking up forthcoming postal strikes and quite a few are scheduled for December, so as I have a couple of birthdays to post for too, I shall be doubling up and they will be getting cards early.
Have a good day and take care everyone.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes!
In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too.
On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts.
From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives.
We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
Happy shopping
Thanks!

They plan postal strikes? That really is forethought
Oh yeah. I think there are about 8 planned and not all for delivery, but sorting offices and warehouses too.
Thankfully I only have two presents and cards to post this year. The rest are all local, but I still haven’t made a list of who to buy for yet!
Ha! Two people to buy for, 22 cards to post including 2 birthday cards and 24 people now to deliver locally!
20+ presents to buy! I’ve lost count of how many nieces & nephews I have
I gave up on my nieces and nephews a long time ago. now I have great nieces and nephews and a great great nephew who will be 9 on Christmas Day. My family are scattered and nearly all subsequent generations have no contact with me, not even at Christmas.
I love your intro ‘wakeup call’ followed by ‘dog tells time’ ~ enjoyed this post. π Hopefully you found all items on your shopping list.
Luckily yes, and a few more besides. No ideas for pressies though. I’m thinking along the lines of goody bags so need a big town where I can get ‘little things’.
Isn’t Maya looking gorgeous π
She is so lovely Willow, a big fluffy teddy bear……… molting like there is no tomorrow and we get the equivalent of a shih tzu of fur out of her every time she’s groomed! Do we care? No. We love her to pieces.
And that’s just how it should be ππ
How’s Ruby doing?
She is struggling and she had a bad tummy last night so one of us will sleep with her tonight. She will not bark, she can’t climb the stairs , and we don’t want her to be upset.
No, best to keep her calm and content knowing someone is close by.
Yes indeed we are bless her π
I’m smiling at the thought that your postal service ‘schedules’ their postal strikes. Sounds very British and civilised of them π
I shall get my cards in the post early next week as usual, especially as there are a couple of birthdays coming up.
Only buying for the boys, each other and saintvi (plus a gift exchange at a work party). Almost done with the boys and saintvi. Sparky is a difficult person to buy for…
Hubby says I’m difficult to buy for, yet I am happy with anything I’m given and for being remembered.
