Sadje is our host and her question this week is
How important it is to you to answer comments on your blog posts?
Do you respond to all the comments made on your blog posts? Do you think responding to comments is an important part of blogging?
I’ve been blogging since 2013 and remember how excited I was getting likes and then comments.
Stats were a mass of numbers for different things, but as time progressed and I understood more of what was going on, participated in challenges and left comments of my own on other posts, comments became more important that views and likes.
When someone comments on your post, it’s because you have struck a chord of familiarity with them that they wish to share or contribute. To me, it is vitally important to respond to someone who has taken the time to put a comment on your post.
It is also polite.
Sometimes, it leads to conversations and others may even join in which in turn, can provide inspiration for another post of a different ilk.
I respond to all comments, as well as read every post by those who participate in the challenges I set. I don’t necessarily follow them all (which is why pingbacks are so important), but if I am aware of it, I acknowledge it.
It’s just common courtesy
I think so too.
I feel the same.

Yes, I agree.
Thanks!
I feel the same also.
🙂 Thanks Rory
I do too, I feel if they took the time to comment I at least should have the courtesy to respond if only to say thank you.
That’s how I feel Chris. Thanks for dropping by, Have a good week!
Very true. This is the spirit of blogging. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Di.
You’re welcome.

I have a friend on FB who has tons of followers and often has over 100 comments on her posts. She never responds to comments. So I stopped commenting. I’ll read and leave a like but I’ve stopped taking the time to comment on her FB page. WP is a little more intimate. I take the time and make the effort to respond to all the comments I get.
Likewise. It’s only polite if someone has taken the time to write.
I agree, and always take time to respond to comments. It would be rude not to, and the social aspect of blogging is important. Though I do sometimes wonder why people comment on how much they have liked a post but don’t hit the ‘like’ button – bigger numbers are nice 🤣
Thanks Clive. I’ve noticed that too.
I try to comment on all the posts I read. If not I will usually leave a ‘like’ at least.
Always glad to see you Glyn.
