Caught again

Hubby is very partial to gingernut biscuits. So am I for that matter, and Maya too.
We have a small tupperware type box that is ideal to hold the 30 gingernut biscuits in a packet, though we had noticed that sometimes we would only get 29.

What with the price now standing at 49p, I have not been buying them quite so often, but this evening Hubby fancied some and we pushed the boat out and opened a packet.
There was an awful lot of space left in the box, so he counted the biscuits and only 25.
They are also smaller than we remember, so I asked him to check the packet.
Yep……… only 250g now, not 300g as they were, so not only are we paying even more, but getting less for our money.
You know why we didn’t notice?
Because the packet is the same size to look at,Β  just more air at each end.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Like potato chips (or as you would call them “crisps”). There’s always so much air in the bags…

I love ginger everything! I’ve just come back from the market and I realized the the packet of pasta I used to buy (900 g) is now 500 g and the same price! I couldn’t believe when I saw it. It’s not fair!

  3. willowdot21 says:

    That’s really bad!!

  4. Nope, Not Pam says:

They did that will potato chips (crisps) here. Never bought them again.

    • We used to have 45g packets, now they are 35g, and those in the multi packs are only 25g, and advertised as less fat that regular crisps…….. duh, less weight so it would be!!!!!!!

  5. It’s the trickiness of it that bothers me the most. I mean if you have to charge more for your product then be honest and say so.

  6. PCGuyIV says:

Not quite sure how those compare to gingersnaps, but I’d be willing to bet they’re tasty. Such a shame that companies pull stunts like that.

  7. murisopsis says:

And the chase for the almighty profit continues. The manufacturers think no one is paying attention!

  8. Carol anne says:

seems everything is going up, and there is less in every package now too! Its just not on!

It’s like when they used to have fun-size bars of chocolate. Now it’s as if they are the normal size. 😦

  10. Are these the same as ginger snaps?

    • Frank of PCGuy IV asked the same question, and I think they may well be, though perhaps fatter and more of a cookie. Some tend to be thin and hard, so best for dunking

      • Yes, after I asked, I read the other comments and saw his. Oops!
My mother used to make ginger snaps and they were my favorites! Hers were very soft, but the ones you buy in grocery stores here are typically hard/crispy. I prefer the soft.

      • Hubby likes the soft ones as they are easier for him to swallow and digest. Maya likes them too, but they have to be dunked in his tea.
