Reblogging this for Friday Flashback.
This was our first year here and we were gradually getting the house furnished and up to spec.
It’s 2022 now, and they say snow is on the way. Funny, come the 30th November 2017 we had some!!

Oh well, our hunt for a Black Friday bargain didn’t pan out, but sometimes these things are for the best.

Our Plan B for a lawnmower was a reconditioned one in a local Bargain Centre where he also did second hand furniture as well as new.
We’d already got our sofa bed when we found this guy, so were interested to see what he had on offer.
Hm. More than twice the price we paid for ours, but he had some pretty nice stuff, though anything new was beyond us.
Today, we had a choice of three petrol mowers, £60, £75 and £85.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    Not many deals to be had these days . . . meat tins and dry beans all cost relatively the same as their usual alternatives, whereas there was once a budgetary differentiation amongst these items and their superior or more convenient versions.

      We are finding that too. Hubby was checking out a few things the other day and the camera I treated myself to last year is now £150 dearer.
      Sometimes the best bargains are those not in a sale.
