Today is Wednesday 23rd November

The day started off horribly with heavy rain and grey skies but at least it wasn’t freezing cold, just a bit chilly. Luckily there was nothing we had to do or anywhere to be so we had a pretty lazy morning.
Good news is that I had a phone call offering me an ultrasound on Friday morning, and Hubby was able to reschedule his INR for the afternoon. Now all I need is a date for the MRI scan and they will be able to tell me what’s going on and how they can treat it.

The rain stopped at 11.45 so Hubby took Maya for a walk at midday. I stayed home because my back is still painful.
I had a call about twenty minutes later to say they were on the beach and Maya was having the time of her life. There wasn’t a soul to be seen in either direction and it was too good an opportunity to miss. Hubby swears she was laughing as she ran along the sand as the tide was right out, then she was in, biting the waves and frolicking in the water. He said she was wonderful to watch and I wish I had been there with the camera.
These were taken in October.

He got home shortly after 1pm with one sandy and wet but happy dog, so it was another game on the front lawn as he hosed her off and she was either snapping at the water jet trying to catch it or dancing round the green snake. Indoors it was drying off with a towel and the hairdryer, then a thorough grooming session to make sure we’d got all the sand out followed by treats for being such a good girl.
Both of us love to see her playing and having fun like this and hopefully it will be more frequent now that the holidaymakers have gone hone and the season’s finished.

Hard to believe she’ll be a year old tomorrow.

Keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

What a wonderful day, she’s bringing you so much joy. Happy BDay Maya 😊

    • Thanks Christine. She has had some minced beef in her dinner today and a few extra treats to mark the day.
Hard to believe she’s a year old!

      • Time flies but she’ll be a puppy for a few more years!

      • Maggie still thought she was a puppy at 15!

      • Hahaha! They all stay babies. This morning David got out of bed and closed the door quietly so I could sleep a bit longer and Brody just whined at the door the whole time because he couldn’t be with me! Big baby!!

      • Maya prefers to be with me if Hubby’s in the lounge and I’m in the bedroom, but she prefers it best when we are together and will settle quicker then. Maggie used to sleep on the bed with me as Hubby was always in the spare room (not just because of her, but he could sleep better and not disturb me when he was restless). Maya is content on the floor on her cushion but on my side of the bed.

      • My GSDs slept on my side of the bed too, on their own beds on the floor. Brody likes to be under the covers with me up on my pillow! He is like a little kid!

      • Maggie slept on the bed and had done for years. In the caravan and on the boat, there was nowhere else for her, and she would curl herself up in the corner. When we were on the road and slept in the car, again she would find a tiny corner and curl up to sleep. Never a problem. Maya has made no effort to get up on the furniture, though she does put her feet up when she wants something. ‘OFF!’ works wonders!!
        How’s Brody doing?

      • He is doing okay. He still has some aches and pains that he is showing by getting really upset if we touch him on his belly or back legs. Psychologically it is also a slow process. He is afraid of everything and it is hard to build his confidence back up. Last week we walked by these two men that had a Boxer with them. I didn’t know how he would react and they said she was friendly. I openly said that I had control of him but that I didn’t know how he would react and they were okay with it. Brody and this girl dog had fun poking at each other.

      • That’s encouraging……….. probably because she was a female. Lots of love and TLC by proxy.
