We decided to have a field trip this morning and have replaced our bathmat which was beginning to hum rather than sing in the shower. We’d washed it in the machine before bu it didn’t spin that well and took ages to dry outside. It also looked rather tired.
Having parked at the top end of town, Maya had a good walk and we treated ourselves to a cooked breakfast, of course sharing our sausage and bacon.
She was introduced to a maltese cross poodle puppy which was about the size of her snout, and didn’t quite know what to do with it. It was a plucky little thing and we had to be careful she didn’t bounce on it in play, but the owner was lovely and the dogs were OK with each other.
We went in to see our friend in the essential oil shop, getting some more tea tree oil for Maya’s cream mix as she still has the occasional flare up of eczema if we’re not careful about not letting her sit on grass, even in our garden.
Town wasn’t too busy and they were putting up the Christmas decorations in the pedestrianized precinct using a cherry picker.
Maya was fascinated and sat down to watch.
There are a lot of empty premises now, and two adjoining shops seem to be in the process of being outfitted as one. Time will tell.
I did some shopping and another hike has occurred, this being the 500g of dried apricots we had been buying to go on our cereal/porridge in the mornings. They were £2.19, then went up to £2.29 which is what they have been for a while. They are now £2.65 so we shall not be buying them as often, just like everything else really.
We added 2 more potatoes (42p) to our stew so it will do another 2 days after today now.
Maya has been spoilt with bacon and sausage and turned her nose up at her dinner, even though I crumbled some cheese into it. Oh well, when she’s hungry, she’ll eat.
Dogs don’t understand the concept of treats when it comes to main meals. She’ll be on the lookout for that bacon now 😊
I don’t buy it very often but she knows what the big white thing in the corner of the kitchen holds.
We are down to shopping the discounted and dented cans now… A big splurge was buying fresh cranberries. You can only find them at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year it was 2 bags for a dollar (16 oz bags) and now it is $2.99 for a 12 oz bag! I did buy a bag and will use half now and half at Christmas!
Criminal isn’t it, paying more for less.
Tonight is the first of the Wednesday ‘late night shopping’ days before Christmas. Most shops stay open until 9 p.m. If it’s fine weather, I’ll pop down. If not, I’ll leave it till next Wednesday night.
We have a £10 dash the week before Christmas which is when we get silly gifts for each other. I shall be looking out for gifts for our two friends over the net few weeks.
