Today is Wednesday 16th November

Once again we have had a busy day and I am late accessing my blog.
On the agenda today was to get the lounge sorted and stacking our cubes. They not only needed to be secured together but also to the wall, but before that could be done, the skirting board had to be painted as by moving them from the floor it revealed a colour difference due to exposure, not dirt!!
We needed to go out and get some materials for the job and were hoping to find a few other things but none of that materialised. This afternoon though I did manage to get a large vase for our seashells and we are almost there! Hopefully tomorrow we can put it all to bed as they say and I can post some pictures.

I read the meters this morning and we are right where we should be. We had our energy bill over the weekend and have a substantial credit balance towards the winter. I’ve already done the budgets for 2023 and 2024 as there are major hikes in local taxes as well as our energy bills. Food is still going up out of all proportion and eggs are now on ration in the supermarkets. Lidl had none at all yesterday.

Keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Crazy how high prices are right now …

I got out water bill yesterday and it’s doubled, I’m a bit put out as we are meant to be getting a discount but nothing appeared. Hubby doesn’t seem to be bothered 😕

    • Is this due to rising costs or higher usage? I read mine every week and if it’s higher than expected, I can usually remember what we may have done to use more, like more washing, washing the car, watering the garden, bathing the dog, etc .
Maybe your discount will be reflected in your next bill. Ours is due in December and I can expect between £80 and £90.

According to the graph we used 50% less water, but supply charges had doubled

      • Our prices will increase in April though I have no idea by how much. It is usually around 5% but with everything else being in double figures, it wouldn’t surprise me to see a hike of over 15%

I haven’t bought eggs for several months now. My SIL’s chickens have started laying again so free eggs! The only down side is that some are very small – like you need 4 to make scrambled eggs when usually one is enough!

I’ll look forward to your pictures. It’s a good thing that I don’t eat a lot of eggs though!
