We have been laying carpet tiles in the lounge today and managed to get all of the furniture out except our two settees so that we could work. Getting the old carpet up was a doddle, yet I thought that would be quite a game, but it appears they didn’t use that much in the way of glue or carpet tape when it was originally laid.
The carpets were all new when we arrived in 2017, but Maggie kept pulling threads and although Hubby managed to repair the damage, the carpet was looking tired. We had already replaced the one on the hall as that looked shabby and were pleased with the result, so decided to do the same in the lounge. Typically the tiles were no longer available and when we sourced an alternative, were double the price so it was put on hold.
Purely by chance, Hubby discovered they were back in stock and we ordered four packs. They were five pounds a box more expensive than when we bought the hall ones, but they are heavy duty and should thus be hard wearing.
Hubby has done a good job and we are now looking for different styles of shelving for our knick knacks to try and give us a bit more space.
We shall do a tip run tomorrow to dispose of the old carpet which we have rolled up and put on the roof rack of the car in readiness.
Off the catch up with pingbacks and comments now. Thanks to everyone in advance for taking part in this week’s Share Your World and today’s 3TC.
Keep safe!
Photos!! I am curious as to how it looks… We are in need of replacing the carpet in the hall and bedroom and have considered the tiles but I’m hesitant…
We’ve used carpet tiles before and found them easy enough to lay. We had a couple of tilts in that one box seemed to be 2mm short on one side and a couple of tiles were a lighter colour but these were spotted and we had enough to do the job using the short ones for the edges. We had them in our bungalow in Poole and they lasted for years.
The carpet in my hall-way doesn’t look tired. I’d say it’s actually gone to sleep!
Ha!
