Sadje is our host and today’s question is
Do you ask or accept help easily?
Do you find asking and accepting help easy? Or does your ego stops you from doing so?
It depends. I am a stubborn Taurean Monkey and learned to be pretty independent in my teens. I am not afraid to ask questions, but asking for help can be difficult.
There are times when I cannot do the simplest things like open a packet or hold a knife to prepare vegetables for dinner, so get angry and frustrated with myself. Hubby is a brick and will always offer, but I can be ungracious in accepting his help because I feel I should be able to do it. Getting things off a higher shelf is also a pain as I am shrinking in height and cannot stretch as well as I used to.
However, there are a lot of things I know I cannot do on my own, and yes, I will ask for help. Hubby and I are great as a team as we work well together. Both of us are also willing to help our friends, though they too don’t always ask!
I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes!
In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too.
On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts.
From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives.
We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

It’s so frustrating when you can’t do something. Opening jars is so annoying now, but hubby printed a tool on his 3d printer that helps a lot
I’ve got a gizmo for that and one for ring pull cans too.
Asking for help can be very difficult for some people. I’m very willing to ask but I didn’t always receive the help requested…
That happens to me too!
Offering help is easier than asking for it. But one should be kind to oneself too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Di
Do you ask or accept help easily? Do you find asking and accepting help easy? Or does your ego stops you from doing so? – I don’t find it easy asking for help. I even find it difficult to ask for help from my siblings at time’s. It’s due to the fact that I don’t want to be a burden.
I can understand that. Hubby and I look after each other and also our friends.
