Today is Wednesday 28th September

The day has started sunny but chilly, so we have taken a chance and got washing out on the line. Hopefully it will be dry before the rain hits later.

We have a repair to do on the back gate as the post is loose so this will have to be done in the next day or so as heavy winds are forecast from Friday. The last post snapped and it was only the bolt holding the fence and gate up, but Hubby was able to use a repair spike. However, the gate is so heavy, it needs something more substantial so it will be a concrete job………….. once we get the old stuff out. We may however be able to put a secondary post in, leaving the gate post in situ, but the new one taking some of the strain. Hubby is looking into solutions.

We are collecting our friends daughter from the station this morning, so Hubby will get a post on the way back. Having invested in a roof rack this is no longer an issue of going through the boot, along the back passenger seat and rubbing shoulders with whoever is sitting in the front.

Have a good day and take care everyone.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Not a fun job of switching out the post – hope the job goes smoothly!

    • We might be lucky and be able to put the new one alongside the old. It’s not broken, just loose, so the extra support when concreted in might be enough. He’ll know better tomorrow when he can look at the job in hand.
