I wish…………..

For the visually challenged reader, this image is of a white Lion, staring directly into the camera. Behind him, the wires of an enclosure can be seen.

I know, I am beautiful, shaggy where it counts, and proud.
Bet you’d like to come in and pet me. It’s not allowed though.
Pity really, as I could snuggle and cuddle, get really close, just like those kittenish counterparts you have in your own pens, or should I say homes.
You could tickle my tummy, I wouldn’t object. My fur is soft, thick and warm.
My keepers know better though.
Come too close, and I’d bite your head off. Saves time rather than tearing you limb from limb.
Did I say I was a real pussycat?

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. I might consider petting him if he had all his teeth and claws removed

The zoo keepers have to remember that complacency is one step from death… As far too many have discovered. The animals in the zoo are NOT domesticated nor are they “tame”!

  4. I hate seeing cages lions and tigers. They deserve better treatment.

    • When we visited Marwell Zoo, we were so disgusted with the living conditions for the animals, we wanted to let them all out. The hippos had a bath of water to lie in not a pool and the birds could not fly very high as the caged enclosures were only about seven feet high. It was a disgrace and the authorities were soon involved (not our doing) and they closed to make vital improvements.

      • I’m glad to hear that. Most of the smaller zoos in this country have either been closed, or upgraded. But those big cats have been so terribly mistreated and they are all dying out. Our grandchildren won’t live in a world where the big cats roam except in zoos.
