The Composters Apocalypse with Rory!

Rory’s given us some questions today, and they’re quite a mixed bag. Oh well, here goes!
Some of my answers are
The Composters Apocalypse

Roses are red,
Rory’s are blue,
I know
cos he’s (com)posted pictures!

[I have started you off now finish the poem your way in the next three lines]

What do you find odd about people?
They are.
Which two questions are you asked the most on a regular basis that annoy you?
When I was working, it was probably ‘Have you got a minute?’ and
‘Could you look into this for me?’  which were always because the person asking didn’t want to do what they were asking me to.
Who was the first Disney princess – Snow White or Cinderella?
Neither as they weren’t princesses until they married, but Snow White was made in 1937 and Cinderella in 1950.
What five questions would you ask a stranger in order to get to know them?
Hello, how are you?
Nice dog, how old?
Are you local?
What’s the dog’s name?
And your name is……………?

What habits do you consider really bad?
Smoking, vaping, nose picking, eating with your mouth open
Who was the female star of Breakfast at Tiffany’s?
Audrey Hepburn (Cat the cat was male)
Which Shakespeare play includes the following words? “Once more onto the breach, dear friends?”
I always thought it was ‘once more on to the beach’, but it was probably one of the Henry’s. Shakespeare wrote a lot of those.
Turkish Delight is a type of custard.  True or false.
I’d say false as I like mine solid and wrapped in chocolate, so it’s confectionery.
Have you ever seen something you simply couldn’t easily explain away and if so what was it?
Yes. Coming home on several occasions when I lived in Bath, there was a shadowy figure on the side of the road in a certain place, but there was never anyone there.
What is the difference between six and half a dozen?
You can’t exactly say half a dozen thirty can you.
What can you NOT compost?
Weeds are not a good idea as they’ll just keep coming back.
What is a major component of Welsh Rarebit?
Cheese and a tomato if you’re lucky (that’s the rare bit)
How long is long in your eyes?
The same length as a piece of string.
Are butterflies attracted more to flowers or weeds – what do you think?
Both. It’s the colour  and there are some damn pretty weeds about so it would depend if it was in a garden or a field.
One of your best friends has phoned for your help in the middle of the night to bury the body of your other best friend – do you help or not?
No way! Some friend if that’s how he treats his best friends and I might be next!
Vatican City is a country – true or false?
True.
Name three things that freak you out and then explain why.
Spiders (Sis threw one at me and it landed in my hair), not being able to find things (always when it’s important) and CRAFT moments (later referred to as BOAT moments) when I can’t remember a flipping thing or why I stood up to go somewhere as I’ve forgotten by the time I reach the door.  That’s probably why we drink so much tea as it’s a safe bet to go into the kitchen and put the kettle on.
Why did the chicken cross the road?
The grass was greener and he wanted to start a new pecking order.
Bonus Question

What’s the worst thing that could happen to a compost pile do you think?
It develops into Audrey from the Little Shop of Horrors

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Hey Di, some good answers in there. My eyes are actually dark brown like compost itself hahaha 🙂

You are quite right on Snow White being first, although she was the first full length feature film princess, but the very first short feature princess for Disney was in fact Persephone also in 1937.

It was indeed a Henry – King Henry the Fifth.

Cold composting is not great for eradicating weeds, but hot composting will eliminate them. But l agree normal composting and weeds don’t travel well together.

Butterflies are attracted to both, although they have a preference for weeds as it is the scent and not always colour as a lot of modern hybrid flowers are without scent and whilst butterflies go to the colour they are disappointed so take to the weeds. But some butterfly species are colour led also.

Shadows on the side of the road or road ghosts as they are sometimes referred to. Yes l am familiar with those. Years ago, l remember talking to a ghost hunter who had several encounters on the A363 which is notoriously one of the most haunted roads in England, but you probably know that 🙂

Cracking answers Di, many thanks 🙂

    • Interesting about butterflies. We have peacocks and tortoiseshells mostly and the dreaded cabbage white. Maya is fascinated by anything that flies. Crane flies drive her nuts at night when we let her out and she’s pouncing all over the grass like a demented Pepe le Pew

    Nice answers Di

Loved your answers! We used to call our dog “bug-eater” because he would eat any bug he could catch – he didn’t like the taste of ants but ate them anyway. I hated the sound of him crunching on Japanese beetles… *Shudder*

    • Thanks Val. Maya was eating snails but seems to have gone off them. The vet suggested we worm her every month just in case she snuck in a few we didn’t know about as it would protect her from lung worm

Wonderful answers, I learnt so much 😊
