Multiple Prompts

Jim is our host for the Friday Faithfuls and his topic this week is prompts, and using multiple prompts in one post.

I host a few prompts, the 3TC, Fibbing Friday and Saturday Swapit, and for the last couple of months have been covering for Melanie of sparksfromacombustiblemind with her popular Share Your World and Truthful Tuesday.

When I first took over the Three Things Challenge, I used to partake myself every day and do a Take Seven post on a Friday using all 21 words of the week.  My last Take Seven was posted on October 29th 2021. Apart from this, I think I have only amalgamated a couple of photoprompts and prefer to do a one on one though sometimes I appreciate I get carried away and flood people’s readers. I am a self confessed windbag after all.

I enjoy taking part in both Wordle challenges Jim mentions, and also the photoprompts of which there are many now. Jim also hosts Song Lyric Sunday and I contribute to that too.

Jim raises an interesting point here
“Maybe you feel a responsibility to respond to certain prompts because these same people are joining in on your prompts that you host. “
I used to feel like that, but unfortunately my inspiration has run dry or gone AWOL in some instances so although I still participate, it won’t be so often, just as it is with my own prompts and who takes part.

I really admire those who can put a decent combination post together that makes sense and is interesting. Maybe I will do more in future, but time keeps running away from me and my priority is not taking part in the challenges and prompts so much, but reading and acknowledging the bloggers who participate in my own.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I do feel a sense of obligation to respond to prompts, but I simply can’t keep it up. I worked out last week I was spending over 3 hours a day reading and writing for the blog, and up-to six hours a day on the weekend.

    • These days I am accessing my blog later and later which is probably a good thing to some extent as I was doing too much screen work. I have cut down on the number of prompts I do for this reason.

Di I can relate! I used to do every challenge and every prompt (years ago). Now I realize that I have a lot to say and don’t necessarily need a prompt to produce a poem or post. That said, if something catches my eye I’ll participate providing the muse is so inclined… That’s why I put so very few constraints on the scavenger hunts so that they can be done in any order and on any day – grouped or combined, with either/or options. And it has worked out so far!

I enjoy your 3 things prompt, and swap it, too! Participating in them is fun! xo
