My question was
Do you enjoy the same kind of music as your spouse/partner/significant other.
If not, do you listen to your own preferences in another room or using headphones, or not bother?
I rarely listen to the radio or my CDs anymore unless I’m on my own. I might put a compilation CD on and sing along, though I have to admit, Hubby is not that keen on my taste in music (ballads, old musicals, instrumentals and close harmonies) so we rarely listen to it together.
Hubby has found some lovely music, much of it based on computer games, and I enjoy the majority of it, though there are some tracks that put my teeth on edge.
He watches some old movies in the afternoons when we’re not chasing our tails, and I like to play Guess the Actor/Actress as I am usually typing away or making cards, but in the evenings he likes to listen to music while he’s doing something else, so I listen too.
I don’t mind, as it’s nice to have some background noise and it’s so much better than the mundane drivel that used to be on TV when we had one.
When we were in the cottage, we had a lot more space than we do here, and the piano was in the lounge whereas his computer was in the dining room. We didn’t have laptops then, so I would be content to play on my keyboard while he did his thing on his. Most evenings though we would put a DVD on and watch that. Sometimes though I would put one of my Il Divo CDs on and listen to that as I read while he was working on something in the conservatory.
Il Divo is great – I guess I’m lucky that Sparky and I agree on most music. (Though I am not a big fan of Natalie Merchant)…
I love Il Divo, and it was such a shock when Carlos Marin died in 2021 from Covid
