TODAY’S QUOTE

Sometimes I think of blogging as finger exercises for a violinist; sometimes I think of it as mulching a garden. It is incredibly useful and helpful to my “real” writing. ~Kate Christensen

Hm, maybe this works for Ms Christensen, but certainly not for me.
I tried to play a violin and my fingers got all confused, so exercises be damned. Now give me a piano and my exercise pieces would be Ode to Joy, The Spirit is Willing, and My Grandfather’s Clock.

Blogging is a way to express thoughts, ideas, dreams, personal experience, concerns, anything a blogger chooses, and if that isn’t REAL writing, I don’t know what is.
Real writing comes from the heart, be it fantasy in an author’s imagination, a letter to a loved one or even a jotted note as a reminder. We are all different, and if Ms Christensen sees blogging as mulching a garden, then her thought processes on the matter are a load of rot then.
Just my opinion.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. That is a very good definition of writing Di.

  2. Sadje says:

    Haha! Well said Di

  3. murisopsis says:

Haha! There are poets who sneer and look down on poets who write limericks or haiku… All poetry is “real” poems (and real writing too). I have to agree that the difference between blogging and writing is so slight as to be negligible.

  4. Nope, Not Pam says:

Agree totally. It’s a backhanded insult

  5. Carol anne says:

Its a pretty ridiculous quote, if you ask me, she’s so not with it! xo
