If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is…………….
‘Drop everything, and meet me for breakfast tomorrow,’ he said.
Without giving a reason or so much as a by your leave, he rattled off the directions, then hung up.
So here she was driving towards what she hoped was a better future.
‘Take the first left off the roundabout, and left again at the service station.
Follow the road until you come to a sign showing a log cabin. Turn right. Drive for about three miles and take the left fork onto a dirt track which will lead you to my cottage.’
All seemed easy enough.
The view was outstanding, marred only by the flashing lights of the emergency services and the police as she pulled up by the gate.
She felt a chill go down her spine as a uniformed officer tapped on her window and asked her to get out of the car.
The nightmare had only just started.
As she was questioned for the nth time, she repeated her story, her voice flat but without rancour.
They hadn’t known each other long. No, she didn’t know his business but he had mentioned a line of assets including a secluded cottage in the hills and a port folio boasting millions in stocks and bonds.
It was hopeless. She was now the Number One suspect in the murder of a guy she hardly knew.
What a start to a crime novel! You really need to take some of these stories a step further!!!
Sadly I run out of steam after the punchline.
So interesting

Neat as a pin … both your story and whoever committed the murder and is trying to frame her! Great writing!
