Today is Thursday 11th August

It’s another hot day so we’re not doing much, though will be going out to collect Hubby’s meds later this afternoon.

We had a trip to the garden centre first thing to buy some pots to play Hunt the Biscuit with Maya (like find the pea). Our neighbour had given us three which were a perfect size, but being plastic, Maya only had to sniff them and they fell over, so we needed something heavier like clay. They had exactly what we wanted for just over £1 each, so very reasonable, and we also found a treat dispenser.
It’s called a Wobbly Ball and hers is green. She’s one smart cookie as it took her 20 seconds to fathom out that she had to knock the ball over and roll it to get the treats out. Note to self: bigger treats, not kibble and Hubby will put some weight in the bottom so that it wobbles more and not fall over so easily!  She’s fast asleep now.

Well, I finally had my phone call from the nurse just after midday.
I had already checked the internet for more details on the Ezetimibe combi she’d mentioned on our last two conversations, and the combi bit is……………………. a statin. The side effects can be horrendous, so I was ready for her should she start pushing it.
She didn’t! In fact, she was very pleased with my numbers as my sugars are now in the pre -diabetic bracket and my bad cholesterol has come down to 4 from 5.2 three blood tests ago. They would rather it was 3, so she casually asked if I’d consider taking anything else to which I replied no, and she said that was fine!  Even better, because things are looking so good, I am back on annual watch rather than every 3 months as I had been for the past 8 months and I can still control it with diet.
Yay, way to go ME and I’m doing something right!

Have a good day and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    Woohoo! Excellent news ❤️

  2. That sounds good, did you do anything special to get the cholesterol down?

    • After a fight and umpteen disagreements about statins, I agreed to go on Ezetimibe, a non-statin that had helped my husband reduce his cholesterol as it worked on the food eaten, not what was in the body (well, that’s how it was explained to us). My cholesterol reduced a little after three months, again three months later and again now, so it’s working for me too. Other than that, I have been following my usual diet with plenty of fruit and veg, but have changed to Flora Light margarine as it is plant based, but I did that well over a year ago and don’t have it very often.
