For Folic’s sake……..

I had the call from the pharmacist this morning at 11am when I was in the middle of a shopping queue. Luckily Hubby could finish off as I took the dog outside to take it.

No, it was not about my medication review, nor was it my iron or B12 levels.
So what may you ask had rung alarm bells for someone to feel the need to talk to me?
Folic Acid.
It would appear my Folic Acid level was higher than normal, but still within their set parameters, so they wanted to check if I was taking any supplements.
I pointed out that I was not pregnant, and at my age, not likely to be, but I was taking some OTC multi vitamins and had already checked the iron and B12 levels which were at the recommended dose. I’ve also checked the folic acid now and that is also at the recommended dosage.
I thought I’d ask, and my heart is fine!

Now I’m (still) waiting for the diabetes nurse to call to discuss……………….. oh yeah, my cholesterol. Been there, done that, tired of the same old argument that I am not going to take statins.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. I agree. Sometimes once you start taking something you pretty much have to take it for the rest of your life.
