Truthful Tuesday 9th August

My question this week was this:
would you be bothered having a Chinese/Indian/Chippie/Pizza or similar on your doorstep or would you enjoy the convenience of having a takeaway outlet within walking distance.
The pub had been up for sale for some time and rumours ranged from revamped apartments, refugee accommodation, demolition and rebuild of flats, and a restaurant.

So far, we have not been too bothered by the smell from their kitchens, and from what we can understand from friends who have tried it, the food is pretty good and reasonably priced. They do takeouts as well as table service and close at 9pm which is not unreasonable either. There is a car park attached and no means for a drive through so traffic congestion is unlikely. Whilst walking the dog in the evening, it is busy, but not too noisy, though with the holiday season upon us, this may well change.
At the moment, the jury is out whether it’s a convenience or not. We were certainly not happy when we saw the extractor fans going in which actually face away from us, and it made sense then why so many of the flats in the block adjacent to it were up for sale.

There is a chippy a little further down the road closer to the beach. They are open longer hours, but not every day. We have sampled their food since it changed hands a couple of years ago, and like a lot of locals, have not been back. They will probably find it more of an annoyance in trade than we will in disturbances.

I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

There is a chippy/ kebab …strange mix! A chippy/ Chinese a pizza outlet, and an Indian takeaway all within walking distance…all good but we only use them say once a month usually the Indian .

There are lots of places here but none within scooter distance simply because I live right by a busy highway intersection in new construction so maybe as time goes by there will be some.

Di, I’m unfamiliar with “chippy”–could you explain for me please?

The Chinese take out is the closest – right next to the Pizza place. But they are not so close that we can walk back before the food goes stone cold… So no issues at all! And the Chinese place is a favorite of ours (very good food and very reasonable) and the Pizza place is a chain that is affordable and you know just what you’ll get. And they often have discounts and coupons so it makes it pretty inexpensive!
