Share Your World 8th August………. ish

OK, I’m a day late with this, but I’m filling in for Melanie for the time being. I hope I can do a good job as this is one of my favourite Monday challenges, so get well soon Melanie!

For readers not familiar with this challenge, I am copying the skinny from Melanie’s blog
There are two ways in which you can participate:

Create a Share Your World post.

  • Leave your answers in the comments box of this post or write your own post.
  • To make it easy for others to check out your post, title your blog post “Share Your World” and link it to this post.
  • Ping-backs are activated, but don’t always work properly.  I think it is best to leave a link in a comment, just to be sure.  It’s okay to just leave the link if you like and don’t have anything else to chat about. If you’d still like to try leaving a ping-back,  instructions on how ping-backs work are found by clicking here.  Thanks!

I also offer a ‘Gratitude Section’ for those who like a little affirmation with their questions!  It’s always optional to participate in that portion of  SYW of course.

Righto then. I am going to stick with Melanie’s format, including the gratitude section as we all need some positivity to share in these current times.

My questions follow:

  1.  When you’re on holiday, do you prefer self catering or a hotel/B&B?
  2.  Do you have a favourite meal you cook for yourself or order when out?
  3. In the current fuel crisis, have you made a conscious effort not to use the car unless absolutely necessary?

4.  If you were to compare yourself to a plant, what would you be?

I am lucky to have a lot of happy memories from my childhood. Please share one from yours.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Most of this doesn’t apply to me, as I’m fairly homebound and reclusive. So my holidays are “at home”; and I’ve never driven (except to fail Drivers Education course).

I don’t dine out, but love to cook for myself: lasagna, Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese, smothered okra, Mexican food, Cajun red beans & rice, veggies with either Teriyaki sauce or curry seasoning…and more.

Comparing myself to a plant, I’d love to be one that’s exotic, tropical–but I’ll settle for being green and hardy with few requirements needed to flourish.

Since I did not have a good childhood, I’m more than grateful that my latter years feel rich and full–that my new memories are beautifully blessed.

Thanks for letting me share, Di–keep well please!

Thanks so much, Di, for hosting SYW. Good questions, and here are my answers:

    1. When you’re on holiday, do you prefer self catering or a hotel/B&B?
Definitely go out to eat as often as possible when we are away, as we are now. Only time I cook on vaca is when we bring back leftovers or my husband goes fishing and provides fresh fish for dinner.

    2. Do you have a favourite meal you cook for yourself or order when out?
I have a lot of favorite meals but on top of the list is salmon. I order it when we go out and I can cook it very well at home. I enjoy it with a side of mash and a veggie, like asparagus. Italian food is a specialty of mine but salmon is a lot easier and less fattening.

    3. In the current fuel crisis, have you made a conscious effort not to use the car unless absolutely necessary?
We don’t really drive that much. When we’re away or even back home, everything we need is nearby. Our kids/grand kids live close by so no long-distance driving to visit them. The only big-time driving is if we go on vacation; usually getting to our location takes several hours. So, no … we don’t really drive much and that has not impacted our life style or fuel consumption.

    4. If you were to compare yourself to a plant, what would you be?
I should be Neptune because I am a water sign but in my heart I am Venus, goddess of love.

GRATITUDE: We have our health, a loving family, food to eat, a roof over our heads, a car … we don’t need more than that and I’m grateful for everything we have. My husband would walk through fire for me and our family. I am truly blessed to have him in my life.

  14. Thanks for stepping up for Melanie. Many of my readers come to my blog just to read my Saturday post of Share Your World. I was just about to email Melanie when I saw this. I do hope she is not terribly ill.

    • Hi Dawn! Thanks for the follow and for supporting my efforts. Hopefully Melanie will get some of her strength back and be able to respond to comments shortly.
