Fandango has provided us with this gem this week for his flash fiction challenge:
Image from Kristine Robbie at Pinterest.com.
For the visually challenged writer, the photo shows three children playing. A girl and a younger boy are sitting in a toy car going down a hill very fast and another boy is being pulled behind them parallel to the ground.
Tammy, Toby and Thomas loved to play practical jokes and this was the best yet.
They’d seen it at the local fair and asked what they had to do.
It was all a trick of the light and placement of the ‘ride’.
Thomas was anchorman and hanging on for dear life but in truth he was suspended by a series of cables to give the effect he was flying. They were edited out of the final shots.
Tammy had always fancied herself as a figurehead, and Toby had dreams of being a racing driver.
The backdrop was a continuous clip which ran at a phenomenal speed, but the actual car they were in was stationary.
Screaming their heads off for effect, the photographer took three shots at a cost of £5 each. Between them, they could only afford one, and settled on the one above to give to their grandparents at Christmas.
Needless to say, they were stunned at how fast they were going and Granpa went into great detail of his days as a boy doing his paper round on a push bike going downhill.
What a charming tale, I love how you’ve upgraded it to suit modern times
