Better things…….

The day started cool, overcast and windy.
We were late taking Maya out, but when we did we had the entire beach (both sides) and prom to ourselves so naturally we let her off. Tuesday she didn’t get to play off lead as she’d misbehaved on the way, so I ended up walking her up and down. I have perfected my left turns now, but the right still needs work! We had been hopeful it had worked, but it was not to be and after she nearly pulled me off my feet, we came home.
Yesterday we had some running around to do so the idea was for Hubby to walk her back from town along the prom, but she jumped out of the car before we were ready, so that was forfeit, though we tried again a few minutes later down the road and she had a ‘half walk’.
It was therefore nice today to let her loose and she was in and out of the water biting the waves enjoying herself. There were things of better interest to us in the sand dunes and reeds, but when we got her attention her response was immediate so we let her play.
There was a woman further up the beach we didn’t know with two dogs, so we cut back along the sand towards the prom where we saw the three samoyeds and their owners walking towards us. They had finished their walk but came down on the sand again so that Maya could interact with their dogs, and they all had a lovely time. She was pretty exhausted when we got home, but still enjoyed chasing the hose and getting soaked as Hubby sprayed her well to get all the sand and salt off.

Kela and her owner came in for lunch today, one of my curries, and we spent a pleasant couple of hours catching up as we haven’t had much chance to chat other than at the gate when they’ve been passing.  Maya and Kela shared the water bowl, then both settled down while we ate our dinner. Maya was hopeful, but she’ll get her rice and a bit of chicken in her dinner later. Hubby has taken her for a second walk now and after yesterday afternoon when he met up with a guy and his two dogs (one of which is walked by someone else for him) and had to turn round as they were going nuts, hopes there are no distractions. I could hear the barking from two streets away and was anxious that Maya wasn’t involved. She wasn’t.

Take care and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Wonderful! I hope Maya can behave better when you are walking her… I suspect once the teen years have run their course she will be a perfect angel while going for a walk!
