Today is Monday 27th June

I’m running late today and didn’t access my blog until 5.45 this afternoon.
I had an early start with Maya getting me up at 4.35 this morning and cooking her some rice as she had an upset tummy yesterday. She seems OK today and had rice with her second meal this afternoon as well.
We had a field trip this morning to do some banking, shopping and give Maya some more exposure to crowds. She did us proud today, with us walking either side of her to keep her focused and although we had a few moments of lost concentration, she met some new people and behaved very well with them, apart from trying to mug a guy for his pasty!
Food prices continue to rise and Flora margarine has gone up another 10p in Lidl to £1.69. It was only £1.19 at the beginning of the year and I refuse to pay it. Tesco have promotions on it (currently charging around £2.25 for 500g) at £1.50 so I shall wait. There are alternative low fat spreads, but they have more calories and fat content so I am trying to avoid those.
My preferred fruit and fibre cereal has also gone up from £1.19 to £1.39 so I bought the same size box of branflakes for 75p and will add my own fruit, which I do anyway. Fruit is something else I am going to cut back on as I’ve spent over £30 on it in June alone . This could account for my sugars going up from 43 points to 46 and not the other way round as I was told last week when I saw the nursing practitioner about the swelling of my legs and ankles.

When we got home today, I made tuna fishcakes for lunch which we had with baked beans. It was nice and quick to prepare, then I took Maya for a walk round the block.
A perfect 10! The lead was in one hand, relaxed, no tension, a regular rhythm and she was more or less attached to my leg. Hopefully we shall be having some more of those.
Hubby walked her up to the prom this morning and did some off lead work, and we’ve just got back from an evening walk, so she’s had four today, including the one up the High Street in town. It’s been a good day.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Brilliant!! Maya is really coming along! I think it is like children – they have a cranky rowdy day just to get it out of their systems and then good as gold from then on…until they need to release the evil genie!

I don’t use margarine anymore, so that’s one expense I’ve managed to avoid and we’re fortunate because the supermarket chain are trying to “help”. Each has locked prices on assortment of products trying to corner the market, so tripping around can reduce the bill significantly… if you can afford the petrol
