It’s another hot one, and only 10am.
Hubby has gone off for his blood test on his own as it’s just too hot in the car for Maya.
After yesterday, he decided she needed some quality time as it must have been really dull not doing anything apart from watching us work, or dozing.ย The gates are up and almost finished, just a few tweaks and final touches.
Hubby was up early and got the washing out before taking her for her first walk. He went up on the prom and the beach was deserted so he let her off! Wish I’d been there to see it as she had such a good time. He didn’t go down to the waters edge though, just behind the sand dunes and she loved it. Last night I’d walked her on my own and Hubby was waiting for us so at his signal and again no-one about to distract her, I let her off. As soon as she realised it was Hubby calling her, she went up a gear and boy is she fast!! It must have been 200 yards, and after he praised her, I called her back. Her response was immediate. More fuss and back to Hubby as I closed the distance. This is so rewarding for us, and such fun for her to have some freedom.
More fun was had in the garden as Hubby was watering the veg with the hose. She was happy to watch, then when he finished, he played with her and she was biting the spray, charging it, chasing it, running through it. Wonderful. Then it was my turn with 10 throws of the gonk and she is now flaked out in the hall where it’s the coolest.

Iโm worn out just reading about it ๐
ha!
She is so good!! That recall is really the most important command that a dog can learn! Our new dog is smart and she is learning some tricks. The only commands she knew were sit and off. We are working on shake and stay. She is pretty good at shake…
Shake? New command on me unless it’s to do with grooming. Maya will wee for me most times and she understands wait, sit, down, over (crossing the road) stay, dinner, biscuit and bedtime!
Sounds like so much fun playing with Maya! ๐
We are trying to give her variety but sometimes we do so well, then she sleeps and has forgotten it all!
