It’s official and yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far here in the UK. Temperatures were unbearable for all three of us, but it looks like the weather is due to break. It was 26ºC (78.8F) in the hall at 4.45 this morning. I let the dog out and there was moisture in the air, so left the door open and opened the bedroom window as wide as it would go. It’s just after 7am now, has dropped to 20ºC (68F) and we have a light drizzle. It’s very welcome.
We bought the news gates yesterday afternoon. We’d measured up and priced materials a little while ago and as Maya’s chest is well above the top when she stands on her hind legs to look over them, we think she could easily clear them if something was of interest enough. Our budget was £160 but we saw some panels that are ideal for the job, much lighter and Maya will be able to see out so might not jump up. Even better, although higher, we can use our existing posts and gate furniture, so just had to buy a new lock.
It’s going to be a cooler today so despite the drizzle, that’s our agenda for the day.

The break in the weather hasn’t reached us yet, but from the look of the sky, it won’t be long. We really haven’t coped with the heat, so desperate to stand in some rain!
