It’s Saturday and another Swapit day. How has your week been? Mine has been lousy.
DISCLAIMER:
I am not, nor do I claim to be, a professional dietician, nutritionist or diet programme consultant.
I rejoined SW in May 2019 and have managed to stay within my target parameters since August 2019.
Saturday Swapit is not intended as a diet programme, and anyone who wants or needs to lose serious weight should consult a medical professional or their GP
I had my blood test OK and the results should be in next week.
I’ve had a craving for all things naughty in the food line this week and it has been increasingly difficult to get back on track.
There has also been a lot else going on which is nothing to do with dieting and that has not helped.
My questions this week are therefore how do you manage when you are sidetracked?
Do you start each day with good intentions as I have but by mid afternoon everything has gone for a bucket of chalk and you resign myself to another failed day and promise to try better tomorrow.
Do you feel guilty and depressed, and in turn that makes you reach for the biscuits or chocolate?
Is your partner supportive?
Do you have two different kinds of diet to contend with?
Do you have demanding kids which stop you concentrating on your own meals?
Luckily, the weight has not gone too badly and all being well I shall maintain on Monday when I text in. That’s the best I can hope for this week .
If you want to join in, write a post with a pingback to this one or leave your thoughts in the comments.
All being well next week should be more positive!
I take it one day at a time, and I don’t beat myself up if it all goes wrong. I’m also aware that I have to make choices. If I want ice cream then I have to have cereal for breakfast. It’s all a trade off, which sometimes works and sometimes not.
I do the same, cutting back somewhere to relax somewhere else. It is very much swings and roundabouts and as you say, sometimes it works!
That is exactly the issue. I have a calorie limit. If I want to eat a candy bar then I know that for lunch I’ll be omitting chips or eating an open faced sandwich. It will balance out. And at the end of the day if I have 20 calories left over I can call it a victory… Vacation was rough since we ate out all the time. But the COVID has reduced my intake drastically. I haven’t done a weigh in but I think I’ve dropped any weight gained on the trip.
I’m usually pretty good at balancing out the syns, but this last week as been a bit of a shambles. Things seem to be settling down a bit now so hopefully I can get my act together! Good for you for losing the holiday pounds. How are you feeling now?

I’m sure next week will see a better outlook. Sometimes one is just too stressed to deal with all the stuff they have to do, plus maintaining their diet regime. To me? That’s nature’s way of keeping us all from stroking out.
very true! Thanks Melanie.
