Sarah is our lovely hostess for the Saturday Mix challenges. Click here to find out more and how to join in.
The ‘Double Take’ challenge focuses on the use of homophones* to build your writing piece. You have two sets of homophones and you are challenged to use all of them in your response – which can be poetry or prose.
Our homophone sets this week are:
paced – measured footsteps
rap – strong knock
wrap– to encase
Stan paced the waiting room anxiously. How much longer?
A sharp rap on the window attracted his attention. The nurse came in to say his Mum had given birth to a beautiful little girl and he was now allowed to go in.
There was no need for Stan to paste a smile on his face when he saw his baby sister. He just wanted to wrap her in his arms and protect her forever.
