TRUTHFUL TUESDAY 5-24-2022

It’s Tuesday and time for a truthful answer to Melanie’s question which today is
Naps.   Do they refresh you or do you feel they slow you down?
Hubby can nap at the drop of a hat. Comes with being ex-forces and getting some shut-eye whenever you can.
Me? I find it hard to nap during the day, but there are times when I am so tired, I will close my eyes just for a minute, and lose half an hour.

After my radiotherapy in 2016/17 and later my surgery in 2019, I napped a lot. Most of the time I didn’t realise I’d nodded off in the chair, but apparently this was to be expected and the only person to be surprised was me.

Our settees are so comfy, both of us can catch forty winks should we feel we need it.
When we first got Maya and were getting up a couple of times during the night as well as 5am, we’d have a catch up nap in the afternoon when she was having a doze.
We usually feel refreshed, but when it’s hot and stuffy, we might feel sluggish afterwards, so in answer to Melanie’s question, for us it can be both.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Nope, Not Pam says:

I can’t nap, I always wake up with a colossal headache, and then I can’t sleep that night. 🙄

I think initially I feel worse but in the long term, you feel better 😊

  3. Good answer! 🙂 Naps can be beneficial if managed properly and Sadje said that a half hour ‘power’ nap did refresh her for the rest of the day. Any longer and she felt groggy and out of sorts, so there’s something in that too. I usually am out for 2-3 hours if I nap. It’s so not worth it. The people who can nod off anywhere are blessed IMO. They obviously feel very secure in themselves!

I nap easily but my internal alarm is not working. If I take a nap I may not wake up until bedtime! So if I want a 30 minute snooze I have to set the alarm!
