5 “Cheat Day” Foods

Today Dr Tanya is asking us about our five favourite cheat foods.
Check out her original post and choices here
I have to admit to having a lot more than five! One of the diets that was popular years ago was the 5 to 2 diet, where you dieted for five days then ate more or less what you wanted for the other two. It didn’t work for me.
I’m forever ‘food aware’ now and have my naughty days more often than I should.

Like Dr T, I love cake, especially the gooey cream frosting type, or one of my cheesecakes which is made with double cream. I show willing with no added sugar though.
Crisps (aka chips in the US).
Nothing like a crisp sandwich for a snack. I don’t get the craving for them very often, but when I do, I can expect to fancy them for at least a fortnight.

Sweets, in particular liquorice rolls or fruit pastilles.
In the past, it was chocolate covered brazil nuts which were also good for constipation 😀
I haven’t had any for years as the shop of choice stopped selling them, so hence the liquorice rolls or fruit pastilles. I have a stash for emergencies, but out of sight out of mind, until I open that particular drawer looking for something else.
Sausage rolls
A standing joke that I could sniff them out at 500 yards, I have always been partial to a bit of pork wrapped up in a pastry case.

Fresh warm crusty bread
Lashings of butter (the real stuff) and strawberry jam. If I’m going to syn, I’m going to syn BIG!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I guess we are all individuals – I love Oreo cookies. Another downfall is baked cheese curls (like Cheetos), M&M candies of almost any kind as long as they don’t have nuts, and hot cocoa made with milk (but only on cold days) and of course dark chocolate (I prefer the 72% – 89% cocoa solids which is pretty bitter but oh so tasty)!
