TODAY’S QUOTE
“Blogging is to writing what extreme sports are to athletics: more free-form, more accident-prone, less formal, more alive. It is, in many ways, writing out loud.”

Whilst I could agree that some bloggers sites are extreme, personally I don’t think athletics is a good comparison to writing.
Sport of any description takes talent, training and dedication in order to achieve the big bucks, which in many cases today are obscene amounts of money for say, kicking a football or driving a fast car.
Blogging gives us a free voice to express ourselves, success can come about more by accident than design, and our imagination can fuel scenarios and situations that we may never experience in real life. What is more, most of us enjoy our writings, getting our opinions and thoughts noticed, joining in conversations, without monetary reward.
As an aside, I hated sports at school, but loved to write.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes!
In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too.
On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts.
From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives.
We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
I agree that a sports metaphor for blogging doesn’t make sense! I think blogging IS writing only with an immediate feedback and audience participation!!
I would not say I hated sports at school because we didn’t really have much in the way of sports. New York city’s overcrowded schools usually didn’t have playing fields, so it wasn’t much of an issue. But I like watching sports and I was pretty good on a 🐴 horse, but I still can’t see much of a parallel with blogging. They don’t even come out of the same place in my brain. Anyway, the post up right after midnight.
Hi Marilyn. thanks for commenting. I like horses, but have never ridden one.
