A Romp on the Beach

It was doggy class today and a bit of a disappointment.
Our trainer has had people let him down this week and only one person turned up on Wednesday (should have been 4), 2 people for the 9am class this morning which usually has at least 6, and there were only four of us instead of 7 for 11 am.
Maya had already met Micky the Shih Tzu and Jess, the black lab, but Bonnie, another Shih Tzu was new to her and the owner had previously stopped going to classes because she thought she’d done enough. Now she was having problems again so had returned for some more training.
We went through the socialising routine and walking with other dogs, but Maya soon got bored and almost went to sleep. Oh the embarrassment! Because we had a new kid on the block, this meant no playtime with her friends at the end and I think Maya realised something was missing.

To compensate, we went to the beach this afternoon with the long training lead and Hubby took her down to the water’s edge. I’d taken the Canon and ended up returning to the prom and taking my pictures on zoom.
They did not turn out too bad and she had a ball………….. which reminds me, we must get her one.
Hubby was pulled into the water on numerous occasions, but it didn’t matter to him as our pup was having fun. Hope you enjoy these.

Once she got the idea of getting her feet wet, the game was on.

They must have been playing for a good half an hour, then it was time to come home.

Somehow the hosing down outside didn’t hold as much appeal as the sea, but she didn’t object to the towel rubs.
Hopefully we will all sleep well tonight.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

She looks like she’s having fun. She’ll be a hungry pup tonight

    • She did indeed and we love to see it as she doesn’t get a lot of opportunity to run free as our garden isn’t small, but not big enough for her to charge about, though she does have her zoomies!

I smiled all the way through this post!! Our dog was terrified of water and when we took him to a local pond we thought he’d want to get in – nope. He wouldn’t even get close to the water. It was baffling.

    • Maggie loved the water so we thought she’d love the beach. Sadly she had an allergy to the sand which irritated her skin, but she still liked to paddle.
