Reblogging this for Friday Flashback. Hard to believe this was written two years ago. How were we to know that come November 17th, we would lose our beloved Maggie.
Now we have Maya and it’s good to have a dog again.

And now she was gone.
Her face was beautiful, those eyes huge and brown, sparkling from within.
Now all that was lost.
How he would love to touch her one last time.
The image in his mind was crystal clear, almost as if she were lying beside him.
He reached out to smooth a wayward hair from her brow, but his hand was met with sand.
As the grains trickled through his fingers, the picture drawn from memory disintegrated.
The loss of a beloved pet is sometimes harder than the loss of family.

So sad, I miss my pup ☹️
We both miss Maggie, Barney too. Maya has made her own place in our hearts though, and totally different to either of them and Kiz, my GSD I had when I met Hubby in 1989.
