Today is Monday 16th May

The day started bright and fresh after heavy rain through the night. The garden needed it and our roses are thriving. The Ancient Mariner has multiple buds on it (last year we had around 75), Maggie’s rose (the white ice berg) has about 10 buds on it, the red in loving memory three, and peace just one but it has always been the last to bloom.

Our onions are coming up and holding court to a potato plant slap bang in the middle of the patch, whereas in the greenhouse we have tomato and cabbage shoots.

We are having a field trip today to check out a new vet and on the way back will nip into one of the larger towns to see if we can get a support for Hubby’s fingers. I might go into The Range and pick up some more blank cards as I noticed that my larger ones are depleting. I use those for my Hello cards as I can write a lot in them LOL.

The weather is changeable though and from lovely sunshine ten minutes ago, the sky is now overcast and rain is threatening.

Have a good day, take care and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Weather much the same here, is there a problem with the Vets? Hope you can get a support for hubby’s fingers…boots or superdrug a possibility. 💜💜

    • Boots don’t do what Hubby is after anymore, but we are looking around.
Our nice vet has retired and sold the practice some time ago so it is a totally different crew and atmosphere now. We waited an hour and a half to be seen by the nurse who was busy doing a stock take, despite her being told we had arrived for our appointment. The service is not as good as they are now part of a franchise, and their prices have doubled. I was charged £20 for a small tube of cream that was only a tenner when Maggie had it.
Judging by some telephone conversations we overheard, they are not very well organised as the client appeared to have been waiting over a month for some test results. Another had been sent a reminder for vaccinations yet they couldn’t find her on their system, and we learned over the weekend that someone had been charged £15 per ml for some gunk to treat sickness and diarrhea in her cat when it should have been £1.50 per ml. She did get a refund, but a hefty bill of over £400. We had also asked for a rough price for something 3 weeks ago and are still waiting for a response. Then to top it all, they haven’t claimed the direct debit for this month, so we’ve lost confidence and gone elsewhere. Our dog trainer recommended someone who has experience with GSDs (actually bought one of his pups) so we checked them out today. We were pleased with what we saw and how we were treated, so signed up and kicked the others into touch.

  3. Happy new week 🤗
