Sunday Poser # 80

Sadje is our host for the Sunday Poser. You can join in here

This week her question is;

How truthful are you?
Do you always tell the truth or can you tell a white lie to save the situation?

As a child, I would tell the occasional porkie though in most instances I would own up and take my punishment, but I wasn’t a naughty child nor did I get into any major trouble.

Most of my working life has revolved around money so I have always been honest about that. Someone once asked me if I was ever tempted and I said no, because it wasn’t mine. I saw other people’s bank balances as just figures on a sheet and I was meticulous and accurate as a cashier. In my six and a half years on the High Street counter service, I only had one difference I couldn’t find (£5) and that was questionable, though a colleague tried to foist off a cash difference of £50 on me when I’d quit and the Manager phoned me at home to question me about it. I told him he had checked my till himself on my last day, and the exchange of cash concerned was not on my sheet as I had not served that customer that day. I pointed  out that another cashier had served him, the transfer was on his sheet, and so I was not responsible, then hung up.

I take a great pride in my integrity. I do not make promises if I feel there is any doubt I can’t fulfil them, and am as truthful as possible 99% of the time as there is always that instance when a little white lie won’t hurt, or an embarrassing situation has to be avoided.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Nope, Not Pam says:

    People don’t understand how important it is to be honest when you’re working with money. I work in accounts and my boss asked me why I didnt just pay myself when I took a day off as I would often have to do stuff from home. I told him that you have to be above reproach, then you are trusted.

    Integrity is a higher form of truthfulness and much more honorable. Thanks for sharing Di.

  3. Carol anne says:

    I agree a little white lie every now and then is ok, but like you, I am mostly always truthful. I value my integrity also!
