Today is the only Friday 13th in 2022, so I thought about changing some superstitions.
Here are my thoughts:
1. How many years bad luck do you get if you break a mirror?
A lot, as you can guarantee it was a family heirloom.
2. What shouldn’t you walk under?
An open window, you never know what might be thrown out and hit you.
3. Why are black cats crossing your path considered unlucky?
If it’s dark, you can’t see them and might fall over them.
4. Why do we ‘knock on wood’?
It’s usually what doors are made from and knocking before entering is polite.
5. Why are horseshoes considered lucky?
Not for the horse, but they make great door stops.
6. Why do we cross our fingers for good luck?
If they are behind your back at the time, you’re telling fibs and won’t get caught!
7. Why is 13 considered an unlucky number?
It’s a prime number, so you know you won’t get that last Rolo as there are 13 in the standard packet.
8. On the other hand, why is 7 considered lucky?
If you add it to 13, you get a score, and in football, to score is always lucky!
9. What is signified by itchy hands?
You’re using the wrong sanitizer.
10. Why should you not put shoes on the table?
Mum gets cross.
