Today is Sunday 8th May

Up with the lark at 5am,
Maya wants to go out again.
How I wish she would let me sleep
Down in the land of nod so deep.
But every morning as day breaks
Her nose under the duvet snakes
A paw, a lick, oh please get up,
I’m still a baby, just one big pup!
And so I drag myself out of bed
Wishing I could stay there instead,
And after the deed of poo and wee,
Breakfast is what she wants next to see.
A set routine as we start each day
Knowing that soon all she’ll want is play,
She has energy to burn, and then some,
I wish her adulthood would quickly come.
No thought for us almost dead on our feet,
Feeling the call of much needed sleep,
But saying that, we love her dearly,
Beginning to understand her clearly,
Big and beautiful, she’s a lovely pup
And when she’s napping is when we catch up!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  3. Pups will keep you young, active… and tired. A super cute poem. Now time to play. πŸ˜€

  4. Great poem, straight from the heart!

  5. A really great story! Yes you are a dog whisperer. You communicate with your pet. She tells you something and you respond! 𓆩 β™‘ π“†ͺ. Not many people are willing to listen to their dog or cat.

    • Thank you. Maya is only five and a half months old, but her ‘tells’ are very clear when she wants to go out and
she has been clean indoors since day 3 of bringing her home. We don’t want to go backwards, so even though we’re
shattered and it’s a nuisance, we get up because she’s told us. Everything else is working out wonderfully and
all being well as she gets older, she’ll grow out of the early morning start.
Maggie communicated with us too and we still miss her.

Maya is smart and her playful stage won’t last forever!! As I was counseled as a new mom – sleep when they sleep, play when they play and eat when they eat… everything else is not important!!
