Music and Me: a reblog for Throwback Thursday 5th May.

I’m reblogging this in response to Maggie’s Thursday Throwback as Music has always played (excuse pun) a very important part on my life.
It has been my safety valve and my refuge.
Musical tastes haven’t changed that much for me over the years, and I still remember the words from singles I bought as a teenager. I didn’t have pop group posters on my wall though as Kung Fu was very popular and in one of my (first) wedding photos, Bruce Lee is behind me in a still from Enter The Dragon.
I’ve seen The Detroit Emeralds, Shalamar, Barry White, Neil Sedaka and Whitney Houston in concert. I have no idea what is in the charts today as I only listen to the radio in the car, though Hubby has downloaded some fantastic Epic tracks which we listen to in the evenings.

I hope you enjoy my reblog which didn’t see much traffic at the time as my blog was only 14 days old when this was written.
(one of my favourite SWMBOs by Hubby).

Everyone has a song to which they can relate and mine has to be

   “Music” by John Miles.

The lyrics are so simple, yet the way they are repeated in different musical formats building up to that final crescendo is so ‘Me’.

The picture above shows an F octave and I play in F#, which is the black notes for those of you not musically savvy (no disrespect).

Music IS my first love and it will probably be my last because it will be with me until I die. Apparently my maternal grandmother played by what they called in the day “soh fah te”. Mum can read music, but Dad played by ear. My sister had lessons and every Saturday would get on the bus and go to the teacher’s house. Sometimes, I’d go too. I loved it, as every room had a piano and I was left…

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

What a lovely post! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I wish I had a talent like yours. Piano is my favorite instrument of them all.

  2. Ah, a blast from the past. I also still like much of the music I have listened to for years.

I love music too! All types, except jazz, and blues! I relate to so many songs, and have a lot of playlists. X

I could neve learn to read music so my organ lessons were a real struggle… I managed clarinet but only because I knew the fingerings and would practice myself silly. Thankfully both sons enjoy music with son#2 making his living thanks to the violin and viola!

    • I know my notes, but wouldn’t say I could read music. I had lessons, but after two years he realised why I asked him to play my new piece……. I played what I heard, not what was necessarily written!

Thanks for joining in Di. I loved the original post too. Music has magical powers, that’s for sure.
