Today is Friday 29th April

Good morning! The sun was out first thing but has now gone all shy on us and hidden behind a blanket of cloud. Maybe it too is feeling the chill of late.

Got a busy day lined up as we are off to the Bank and then shopping this morning. Being a Bank Holiday weekend, pensions are going in early so I can do the necessary transfers today.

This afternoon I am taking our friend to the doctor. After several weeks, she has finally managed to secure an appointment with a real doctor to discuss her medication since she was taken into hospital as the new tablets are making her ill.

We had another interrupted night with Maya who got us up at 4am and then wouldn’t settle. The delay of her final meal doesn’t seem to have made that much of a difference afterall.
Any suggestions? We walk her before we go to bed, sometimes having a little game in the garden in the hope of tiring her out, but the best she has done for us was 5.30, and that was because we didn’t get to bed until after midnight.

Have a good day everyone. As always, take care and keep safe.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

It may be worth looking up about earlier feeding, rather than later, so the last night outing produces the goods, and the empty stomach lets them sleep through the night. I’ve always ended up with the morning meal being the larger, and the afternoon meal being smaller.
But, as always, every dog is different.

    • Now this is interesting because I was thinking along these lines. Maya currently has three meals a day but we are hoping to adjust her to two in the next few weeks. We are going to try the larger meal at breakfast and two smaller meals through the day, similar to the theory Breakfast like a king, dine like a prince and have supper like a pauper. She will still have her meal quote throughout the day, just a portion adjustment.

I think that as with children they get off schedule when they are going through a growth spurt. I imagine she will go back to a more normal sleep cycle once this growth phase is over – at least until the next spurt in growth…
